WW2 Medic Painting for American Physicians Art Association | 1940s
Here we have a stunning World War 2 portrait painting of a medic with a stethoscope around his neck. And if you look behind him you'll see battle action in the background, including medics carrying a soldier and a raging fire with billowing smoke. There is just something about the execution of this war painting that hits you from every square inch. The colors vibrantly tell the intense tale of the heat of battle. And then you have the amazing provenance on the reverse.....
The WPA era artwork has an exhibition tag on the reverse stating the following:
Special Art Exhibition American Physicians Art Association "Courage and Devotion Beyond the Call of Duty" (on the part of physicians in war and in peace) in conjunction with American Medical Association Atlantic City, N.J. June 9-13, 1947
Name: Alfred Wachsberger M.D. Address: 1025 Ninth Str. Sacramento California Title of object: Front Line Doctor Medium: Oil
I'll let that all just sink in...
The framed war painting measures 16" tall x 13" wide x 1" deep There is light patina throughout the artwork. The oil on board can shift occasionally because of loosening framing nails. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
I ship FedEx to street address in the continental USA only (no PO Boxes please). Free shipping on the WW2 painting.
The pictures don't do it justice. The artwork pops from whatever distance, and the historical provenance sends it to the stratosphere.
