WW2 London Bombing Press Photo | 1942 German Air Raiders
Here we have a powerful press photo of London badly damaged by Nazi Air Raiders, circa 1942. Let's get right to it. Here's the background on this photo, courtesy of the reverse typed notes:
CLEARING DAMAGE IN LONDON
London, Eng. - A general view of London, looking South from Finsbury, showing one of the areas badly damaged by Nazi Air Raiders. This district, which housed many textile houses, is rapidly being cleared of damaged buildings. In the photo, St. Mary-Le-Bow Church, Cheapside, can be seen (Steeple at Left). In center, is St. Paul's Cathedral and dome at extreme right, is that of Old Bailey. Note barrage balloons hovering over the city. (at right, left, and center background) (passed by censors). 6-25-42
The rare war photograph measures 7 1/2" tall by 9 1/2" wide. There is wear from use throughout, including creases and bends. None of it takes away from the haunting power of the historical press photograph. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). Free shipping on the rare war photograph.
Can't get over the barrage balloons...and the name for them. Unreal.
