Here we have a vintage union made welder cap, likely from the 1950s. I'm still not pleased that this bad boy doesn't fit me. I thought it was a baseball cap, then I thought it was a beanie cap, and now I've landed with a welder cap. Through it all, I knew it was pure rock n roll, whatever the official definition. The vintage workwear cap looks black in most light, but the head display brings out a dark navy blue.
The interior band measures about 22 - 22 1/4", which translates to about a 7 or 7 1/8 hat size. I wear a 7 5/8 and it definitely way too small for me. The funky cap is in overall good condition. It definitely smells like mothballs. The cap has gathered some dust and particles through storage over the years. There's a small red speck on the left side of the bill. I'll let you decide if you want to clean it. I personally wouldn't but to each his/her own. The bill measures 2" at the apex. A few of the air holes are experiencing slight fraying.
