Here we have a rare set of Sumner Matteson photography exhibit posters from 1983. The photographs highlighted in these four posters will grab you and never let you go. Matteson knew how to freeze an image. Then you add the size of the images and posters....so good.
The rare art posters were used to promote an exhibit at the Science Museum of Minnesota, around the same time when the Milwaukee Public Museum published a book of his photography, entitled "Side Trips: The Photography of Sumner W. Matteson (1898 - 1908)."
The Science Museum of Minnesota still houses over 800 of his photographic prints. Check out the biography of Matteson.
The set of four was found in a large lot of vintage posters ranging from the 50s to 80s.
Each exhibit poster measures 26" tall x 19" wide. The posters are printed on thicker (card?) poster stock. The posters were (thankfully) stored, rolled inward, for years. There is light wear related to storage, including a few slight creases at the corners, light fraying along the edges, and a couple small tears along the edges. Overall, the posters look great, and would be phenomenal framed and hanging together or on separate walls. Please see all pics as they are part of the description. Feel free to request additional pics.
The listing price is for all four posters.
I ship to the continental USA only. The posters will be shipping in a poster tube, rolled the same way as they were in storage. Free shipping on the posters.
If you're in the Twin Cities area, I'm open to delivering the posters.
The self-portrait of Matteson in the hot spring cave will be enough to haunt you forever (in a good way). The rare posters deserve to be framed and viewed. Don't miss out.
