Vintage Industrial Machinist Table Lamp with Hubbell Shade
Here we have a crazy industrial task light created by an old-timer in a rural machinist shop in rural Minnesota. Apparently he's a fan of snakes....black snakes. The gooseneck is over 2 feet long and tight as a drum. This little demon can spring out at you and freeze-frame on a dime. And he looks good doing it.
The unusual machinist lamp starts with a heavy metal base, and metal transition pipe welded to the middle. Then you have a tank of a gooseneck. The snake is wound tight and won't give an inch. And all of this is topped by the old Hubbell shade, mean as the devil. It is a stunning piece, and well made, with years of patina everywhere. Functional folk art at its finest.
The vintage lamp stands almost 33" fully extended. Each side of the base measures about 7". The light has some weight to it, mostly from the base and transition pipe. There is patina everywhere, including old paint, grime, scrapes, and surface rust. The Hubbell shade has one fastener missing (see pic), resulting in shade shaking slightly when moving. The lamp was rewired with black cloth wiring and a vintage style plug. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
I ship to the continental USA only. The bulb isn't included. Free shipping on the rare machinist light.
Frankenstein lives. And the old-timer gave him extra strength. This is a snake you want in your home or shop. It's an absolute tank.
