Vintage Fostoria Industrial Light with Steel Base | 1940s
Here we have a vintage industrial Fostoria drafting lamp with a bruising handmade steel base. This handy old light bends and contorts every which way you can think. all with a boatload of attitude. In order to help wrap your head around it, this beauty came out of the estate of a Minnesota engineer. Apparently the gent complemented the lamp with a custom steel base in order to keep up with the variety of positions. "Over-engineered" is the word I heard when purchasing the green beast. The industrial light sat upon his large drafting table, and said plenty without saying a word.
I love the design of the steel base. It easily detaches from the base of the light, and you can grip it using the inside slat. But get ready for a forearm workout. The base is no joke.
The Fostoria lamp is about 25" tall at natural (bent) position. Fully extended, the lamp stands 40" tall. The base has a 9 1/2" diameter. There is perfect patina everywhere and slight veering angles throughout. You can loosen and tighten each knuckle to your heart's content. The wiring is original, at least to the engineer's preference. There isn't a switch for the light. You just plug it in or out. As with all vintage lights, please perform your own review of the wiring and decide accordingly. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
