Here we have a powerful and rare vintage feminist theater poster from the early 1970s. The poster print was created in 1973 and signed by California artist Marcia Salo Rizzi, whose career included activism, prints, film and higher education. The vintage print is referencing the pioneer theater group It's Alright to be a Woman, established in 1970. The image is powerful, especially when you pair it with the words "I AM WOMAN GIVING BIRTH TO MYSELF." Great design, and lasting impact.
The rare artwork was acquired at an auction in Minnesota, and at one point was owned by the Turning Point for Victims of Domestic Abuse (tag on reverse). Profits on this piece will be donated to the Turning Point in River Falls, Wisconsin.
Here's the printed info on the poster:
(along the side) "WOMANBIRTH TCP-15, 1973 by Times Change Press, Box 1380, Ojai, CA 93023. Printed in USA"
(under the title) "The birth chant from Ellen's story, from It's All Right to be Woman Theatre."

The rare feminist poster is enclosed in a clear plastic sheet with foam board backing. The piece measures 23 1/2" tall and 18" wide. The poster print is in vintage, used condition. There is an ink mark in the top right corner. There are indentations (both dots and streaks) throughout. Near the "AM" there is a puncture through the plastic and the print. There is a hole in the plastic in the top right corner. Please all pics as they are part of the description.
I ship to the continental USA only. Free shipping on the poster.
Authenticity and power ring true....in the art, the message, and the movement. This a rare bird, and a majestic one at that.
