Where do I start... It's a surreal WPA oil on canvas signed by the artist (Cranston?). On the reverse top left corner is written "6/16/45." The scene is of a...seriously, I don't know how to describe it. (Please see pics)
The phrase "Saintly Rocket Woman" comes to mind. You be the judge. All I know is this is one of the coolest WPA era paintings I've seen. This unusual painting is the epitome of conversation starter. You have the teepee and the hills of paradise complemented by the White House and a mountain range in the far distance. And let's not forget the rocket woman with a halo. What was going on in the artist's head? Surrealist art at its finest.
The vintage painting came out of an old art collector's estate in the Twin Cities.
The surreal painting measures 23" x 18.5". There may be some discoloration near the halo of the woman but with a piece like this, who's to say? Overall, it could probably use a cleaning.

I'm at a loss for words. So out there and so cool.
