Here we have a rare Victorian cast iron paperweight reaching from the depths. The sculpture of the hand grabbed my eye from across the way, even with the small stature. Check out the ornate base.
The antique paperweight was created sometime in the period from 1890-1910. The previous owner collected paperweights and had never seen one like it before. The only reason he let me have it was because it creeped out his wife, and she demanded he get rid of it. Alright!
I don't see a maker's mark or signature on this unusual paperweight.
The piece stands about 4" tall and about 2.5" wide. It is super solid and has some weight to it. There's some great patina, especially near the base of the outside thumb. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
