Here we have a rare U.S. Coast Guard broadside poster entitled "Life Saving Signals and Breeches Buoy Instructions." The military poster was published in 1967 and would've been found in posted on a wall of a Coast Guard vessel.
So the subtitle got my attention: USE OF THE GUN AND ROCKET APPARATUS FOR SAVING LIFE FROM SHIPWRECK. Need I say more? I'm all in on any instructional pieces with the word "Shipwreck" in the title. This piece points the valiant men and women of the Coast Guard and the exciting (albeit dangerous) duty to protect and save people.
Check out the signals demonstrated by the black stick figures in the poster. So good.
The framed piece measures just under 18" tall and 13" wide. The vintage poster measures about 16" tall x 10" wide. The piece obviously experienced active use on a wall. Great patina everywhere. There is some soiling along the bottom edge. There is a few minor losses along the right side. The top edge has some clear tape. This important piece was made in the 1960s and was used in duty, and the patina reflects these facts. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
I ship to the continental USA only. Free shipping on this piece.
You can learn a lot from this great broadside poster. Hopefully you won't need their services. Don't miss out on this rare piece of Coast Guard history.
