Here we have a rare Italian engraving from the 17th century titled "The Denial of St. Peter." The print was made by Giovanni Battista Dotti after a painting by Lorenzo Pasinelli. The piece is a complement to another engraving of a Pasinelli painting (see link below). I detail is amazing, especially the expressions of the players' faces.
The engraving was produced around 1670. There's nothing like holding a piece of art history in your hands, especially one that's 350 years old. On the reverse, it has a catalog mark (114/10), signed initials ("W.L.), and the statement "Peter denying Christ" in graphite.

The rare engraving is mounted to old thick paper. The entire piece measures 15" wide by just under 12" tall. The actual engraving measures just under 14" by 11". The print definitely shows its age. The edges of the print is experiencing some losses, especially along the top edge. There is foxing throughout. The backing paper is curling along the side edges. On the reverse there are several adhesive spots. And through it all, the expressive scene still shines through. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
