Here we have a wicked cool and unusual large drawing of a shifty-eyed man by listed artist Preston Heather Kortebein, who was a graduate of the Chicago Institute of Art. This fantastic scene was created inn 1951, so Kortebein was early on in their career at the Institute. I love the muted yet exciting vibe this one sends from your wall to the rest of your home. They'll pick it out from across the room. I speak from experience. Art creating a scene, as opposed to the opposite. Side eyes all around.
Here's more info on the artist:
“Preston Heather Kortebein was born in 1932 in Highland Park, Illinois, graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, recipient of an honorable mention in the 1958 foreign traveling fellowship competition: received the Robert Rice Jenkins memorial Prize.”
The 1950s artwork comes out an art collector's estate in Chicago. The piece is signed "Kortebein" and dated 1951.
The framed vintage drawing measures 21 1/2" tall by 13 1/2" wide. There is a some light patina throughout the drawing from age. The frame is new and more utilitarian than quality. It looks fine though. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
