Here we have a stunning still life painting by listed artist Michel Rodde (1930-2017), complete with French art tags on the reverse. Impressionism doesn't always grab me but this beauty yanked me out of my slumber and never let go. It is such a cool color palette, setting the tone and mood. It's a gorgeous thing.

Here's a biography of this important artist:

Michel Rodde (1930–2017) was a French painter renowned for his evocative landscapes and vibrant use of color. Born in Paris, Rodde showed an early talent for art and pursued formal training at the École des Beaux-Arts. Influenced by the post-impressionist and fauvist movements, his work displayed a unique blend of expressive brushstrokes and a deep connection to nature.

Rodde's career flourished during the mid-20th century, marked by numerous exhibitions across Europe and the United States. His paintings often depicted scenes of rural France, capturing the essence of Provence and the Mediterranean coast with an emphasis on light and atmosphere. Critics praised his ability to convey mood through bold contrasts and fluid compositions.

Throughout his life, Rodde remained dedicated to exploring new techniques and pushing the boundaries of traditional landscape painting. His later works delved into more abstract forms while retaining the essence of his earlier style. Beyond his artistic achievements, Rodde was known for his humility and passion for teaching, influencing a generation of young painters through workshops and lectures.

Michel Rodde's legacy endures through his extensive body of work housed in private collections and museums worldwide. His contributions to the art world continue to inspire and resonate with audiences, encapsulating the timeless beauty of the natural world through his distinctive artistic vision.

The vintage French painting came out of a Chicago art collector's estate. I believe the painting was produced in the 1950s or 1960s. The impressionist artwork is signed in the lower right by the artist.

The unframed Rodde painting measures 24" wide by 20" tall. There is light surface wear from age throughout. There are a couple spots experiencing paint losses (see pics). Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

Cool and sleekly. Your interior will beam and chill with this amazing work.
