Bird Watercolor Paintings after Jacques Barraband | 1970s?
Here we have a pair of watercolor paintings on paper of two birds after the French artist Jacques Barraband (1767 - 1809). These weren't executed by the master himself, but they aren't chump change either. The bird paintings pop. The sticker notes describe the species as Petit Rollier Violet and Geat Orange. Never heard of them. Got a fine look to them though.
The watercolors on paper came out of a collector's estate in the Twin Cities. The artwork is not signed or dated. My guess is the paintings were made 1960s or 70s, but it is only a guess.
The unframed paintings measure 13 1/2" tall and 8" wide. The two paintings acmes with detached matting, which is where the stickers with info originate. I'm not including matting because of significant damage. The paper does have evidence of art tape used with the matting. There are a couple small discoloration spots. The paper has lost a little steam but the paintings will look great framed. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). Free shipping on the Barraband influenced artwork.
Great is great. These birds will fly with the best of them.
