Here we have a rare Zulu South African prestige staff from the turn of the century. The triple twisting snake motif isn't just an amazingly cool design. It actually has much deeper meaning. This type of staff was carried by men of high status, with the snake being a common symbol representing the protection of ancestral spirits. Plus, the three snake motif is much more rare than the more common two snake design. You can dig deep with this powerful beauty.
The rare Zulu prestige staff comes out the estate of Dr. Christopher Graham (1865-1961), who was an early medical partner of the Mayo Brothers. He was an avid traveler of the world and was always on the hunt for the best historical artifacts. The rare triple twisted snake prestige staff was amongst his fine cane and stick collection. The Zulu prestige staff dates somewhere between 1890 - 1920.
The cane stands 35 3/4" tall, with a width of about 1 3/4" at it's widest point. As stated above, there's deep, perfect surface patina throughout. There is wears along some of the curves of the twisting snakes. One of the snake's eyes is missing the white inlay (see pic). The piece is super solid. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

You hold this power in your hand and you feel the impact of intense history. A stunning thing.
