Here we have an antique wrapped leather walking stick with an engraved silver handle. The feeling you get when you grip this beauty is something to behold. It's intense. Then you have the engraved initials on the handle. The original engraving is "R.I.C.". However, Mother Nature took over and a line of corrosion turned it into "R.I.P." So bad it's good.
As for the wrapped leather, some of these old leather canes were made by prisoners. Not sure if this is the case with this one, but it sure would help you in the clink. This late 1800s accessory will get you out of a jam if you accidentally zig when you should've zagged. The old chap who owned this wanted the grip to end all grips and send a message with the ominous "used" leather. This beauty has all the brutal patina to win your case, and the weight to clear the room.
My guess is the leather cane was made between the Civil War period and the 1890s. The rare walking stick came out of an old estate in Massachusetts.
The antique cane measures about 36 1/4" tall and the handle diameter measures 1/2". As stated before, there is patina throughout, especially the wicked scars in the wrapped leather. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO Boxes). Free shipping on the jailbreak cane.
