Antique Leather Cane with Brass Top and Ferrule - 1800s
Here we have an antique leather strap walking stick with a brass knob top and ferrule. Some of these canes were made by prisoners. Not sure if this is the case with this one, but it sure would help you in the clink. The leather straps surround a metal rod. Serious business.
My guess is the cane was made between the Civil War period and the 1890s. I don't know much about the history, other than it was present.
The antique cane measures just under 35" tall. The diameter of the leather shaft is 1/2" at the top. The brass knob top is just under 1". The brass ferrule is just under 2". The cane bends slightly (see pic). There is patina throughout the leather and brass. The leather towards the bottom has some abrasions, discoloration and losses from use. The ferrule has some bruises as well. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO Boxes). Free shipping on the jailbreak cane.
Objects from the 19th century always tell a story. Some good, some bad, always intense.
