Antique Diamond Willow Walking Stick with Knob Top | Signed C.W.S.

Here we have an antique folk art walking stick made out of a sweet piece of old diamond willow wood. This one is solid, striking and built to last. The old bubbled varnish mixed with the striking willows makes for walking cane made for the Pied Piper Others will follow the cat walking in the room with this beauty.

The rare folk art cane is signed "C.W.S." on the one diamonds (see pic). The wood carver is a mystery to me. I do know they had talent and a crazy good eye for the unusual raw materials. This is a great one, and the artist knew it. They spent a bit of time carving the signature.

The walking stick came out of a large cane collection from the Twin Cities area. Folk art was specialty of this collection. I believe the stick was created at the turn of the century.

The wood carved cane measures just over 33" tall. The knob top has a 2" diameter. There is beautiful patina throughout. The nature of the wood results in small, black tinted holes found in several spots throughout the folk art. It only adds to the killer patina.
