Here we have an old ebony wood crucifix with a smiling skull and crossbones. This may be the best rust patina I've ever seen. The skull and crossbones look like they're glowing, and not with heavenly light. It's crazy. And the skull is smiling. I venture to say it captures the dark intensity of Good Friday quite well.
I think the crucifix was made in the early 1900s. It comes out of a collection of old priest and nun crucifixes, most of which have the skull and crossbones. Was it used in an exorcism? You be the judge.
The crucifix measures 12" tall, 6" wide, and 1 1/2" deep from Christ's forehead to the back of the wood. As mentioned before, there's patina galore with this piece. Rust with metal decals. General wear and paint losses throughout the piece. I tested the crucifix with a magnet and the decals all magnetized, but the Christ figure did not. Under the legs you can see the silver worn off, revealing a brass tone. I'm pretty sure the Christ figure is brass but I'm not 100% on it.
Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

Sweet dreams. Say your prayers or the smiling skull will come for you. So wicked.
