Here we have a rare cased Civil War tintype of a Union soldier in a 9-button tunic. This historical relic will haunt you to your core. The stare that cuts through the centuries. The weight of the war falls heavy on this soldier. The backlight brings a mood rarely found in a cased tintype. A perfect contrast of shadow and light.
The rare antique photograph comes out of an extensive Civil War collection which contained some very rare and unusual photography. The sixteenth plate tintype is housed in a wood and leatherette full case.
The cased tintype measures about 3 1/2" tall by 2 1/2" wide and 1/2" deep. There is some slight wear from age throughout the tintype. The sharpness of the image really pops and breaks through all of it. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). Free shipping on the unusual 19th century Civil War photograph.
The image is so hauntingly good it's scary. The weight of the war.
