Here we have a rare Civil War tintype of a Union soldier displaying this pistol through a storm of patina and his rosy cheeks in full affect. Usually the image is enough (and it delivers), but image through the surface wear elevates this mysterious relic to a compelling mythology. Give me this image any day of the week. A treasure treated by the decades. Check out how young the soldier looks. And that is a serious sidearm.
The rare antique photograph comes out of an extensive Civil War collection which contained some very rare and unusual photography. The 6th plate tintype is housed in a period brass mat.
The Civil War era tintype measures about 3 3/8" tall by 2 3/4 " wide. As stated above, there is significant surface wear throughout the tintype. The sharpness of the image still pops and breaks through all of it. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). Free shipping on the unusual 19th century Civil War photograph.
Saddle up and get ready for a blazes. One of my favorite pieces.
