Here we have a rare Civil War ambrotype of a soldier displaying a U.S. issued Colt pistol through a storm of patina and his rosy cheeks in full effect. This is one peculiar looking figure, with the scarf and serious look underneath the unique hairstyle. Give me this image any day of the week. A treasure treated by the decades. The larger ambrotype hits you like a ton of bricks when you hold it in your hands.
The rare antique photograph comes out of an extensive Civil War collection which contained some very rare and unusual photography. The collection only contained Confederate images. However, I can’t say for sure if this is Union or Confederate. The ambrotype is housed in a period brass mat.
The Civil War era tintype measures about 3 1/2" tall by 3" wide. As stated above, there is surface wear throughout the tintype. There is discoloration on the right side of the image. The sharpness of the image still pops and breaks through all of it. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). Free shipping on the unusual 19th century Civil War photograph.
Gear up for the blazes and rosy cheeks. One of my favorite pieces.
