1960s Presidential Woodcut Prints | Rare Set of 12

Regular price $175.00

Here we have a rare set of 12 large presidential woodcut prints on heavy cotton paper from the 1960s. This was street art before street art did the street art thing. I can't help but think of the Andre the Giant image made famous by Obey. Given the size, you have some major black-toned detail of the presidential faces coming right at you. Check out the bulldog wrinkles of JFK and the curious eye of Honest Abe.

I was told the large presidential wall hangers were produced by an advertising illustration artist who worked throughout the Midwest, mainly Chicago. He retired in the Twin Cities area and his estate was sold after he passed away. I'm not sure if the prints were produced for a exposition. That's my guess though. I'm not aware of the artist's name, and none of the pieces are signed. I was told the pieces were produced in the 1960s. The set is sold complete, no parsing.

As for the presidents, I know we have John F. Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln, Dwight Eisenhower, and Franklin D. Roosevelt. The others I'm unsure of given the wild woodcut design. Feel free to fill in blanks.

The rare set of woodcuts range in size, but they average around 36" tall by 15" wide. The material is thick...my guess is some form of thick cotton paper. They have a vellum type feel. Some of the prints have some discoloration, and a few have some waves while they lay unframed. Framing them up should remedy this phenomenon. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). The prints will be shipped rolled as pictured. Free shipping on the rare vintage presidential prints.

Meet the new Boss, same as the old Boss...well, not really.
