Here we have a rare presidential woodcut print on thin rice paper from the 1960s. This was street art before street art did the street art thing. I can't help but think of the Andre the Giant image made famous by Obey. Given the size, you have some major black-toned detail of the presidential faces coming right at you. Check out the bulldog wrinkles of JFK.
I was told the large presidential wall hanger print was produced by an advertising illustration artist who worked throughout the Midwest, mainly Chicago. He retired in the Twin Cities area and his estate was sold after he passed away. I'm not sure if the print was produced for an exposition. That's my guess though. I'm not aware of the artist's name, and the piece isn't signed. I was told the piece was produced in the 1960s.
The rare woodcut measures 38" tall by 15" wide. The material is thin...my guess is some form of rice paper. Some of the edges are creased, especially in the lower right. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
I will ship USPS to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). The print will be shipped rolled. Free shipping on the rare vintage presidential prints.
Presidential street art. Nothing better
