Here we have a 1950s double-sided painting featuring a haunting futuristic head and a surrealistic landscape scene. You get double the unbelievable trouble with this rare Regionalist artwork. The problem you're going to have is choosing which scene you want to light up your room. I highly suggest framing in such a way to flip the card whenever you fancy. The power of the futuristic head grabbed from a long distance away. And then after I flipped it around, I proceeded to flip out. The murky details draw you in and knock you out. Trust me....the pictures don't do it justice.
The unusual paintings were executed by Catherine Marra, a Wisconsin artist, in the late 1950s. The head painting is signed Catherine Marra '59. Another painting of hers that I acquired had an exhibit tag for a regionalist art show in the 50s. I was told the paintings were in storage for decades. Fresh to the market!
The unframed painting measures 24" x 18". There is light patina throughout the pieces. The very edges are experiencing some losses. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
