Here we have a stunning 1940s painting of a nude woman standing over the decapitated head of a man with major locks. I'll lead off by saying this is a four-alarm fire and the heat it rising. I saw this from across the way and it was making a scene and the authorities came running. It is just an absolute banger, and set your smokes alarms off. When checking the boxes, this one creates a few more boxes that it checks itself. Expand the pics to fill your screen. It still will not do it justice. Yet another haunting piece of American underground art history.

Here is some information about Zella Mae Dickinson Wunderlich courtesy of Ask Art:

With early roots in Nebraska, Zella Dickinson became an established and successful modernist artist in California, where she had studios in Hollywood and San Diego. Zella was raised in Bone Creek, Nebraska, which was near her birthplace of David City and which was named for the mastodon and other ancient creature fossils found along its banks.

The vintage artwork is signed "Dickinson" in the lower righthand corner.

The framed painting measures 31" tall x 37" wide x 1" deep. The frame looks homemade and completely period, likely made by the artist. There is light patina and cr throughout the artwork. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship UPS to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO Boxes). Free shipping on the 1940s painting.
