The vintage painting on canvas features a classic brunette pin-up in a vibrant yellow top and red skirt, leaning casually against a stylized, snow-capped Mount Fuji. The "MT. FUJI" lettering in golden yellow adds the period-correct souvenir touch. It’s a raw, authentic piece of Americana-meets-Japanese history that survived the journey back across the Pacific.
The rare WW2 collectible comes out of an estate in Iowa. It was likely made in the mid to late 1940s. Given the frayed edges, the piece was either a patch on a soldiers bag or the reverse of a jacket. his hand-painted pin-up on heavy-duty canvas was likely commissioned by a serviceman stationed in Japan during the post-WWII occupation era.
The heavy-weight, textured canvas with rounded corners measures 20” x 15”. There visible stitching/fraying at the edges. The canvas features genuine age-toning, light staining, and minor creases that verify its age and history. The colors remain surprisingly vivid even with the losses.
