Here we have a stunning World War 2 painting of a soldier running from an exploding tank in the heat of battle. When taking it all in, there's something that hits you from every square inch. The point of view angle from inside a destroyed building haunts me. The colors vibrantly tell the intense tale of the heat of battle. The WPA era artwork is signed T. Walters in the lower righthand corner. On the reverse there's a tag reading the following:
Painted in the 1940s by Tom Walters of Platteville, Wisconsin. Mr. Walters served in the U.S. Army during WW2 with the 3rd division and saw extensive action in the European theater. The subject of this painting is a memory from his service in the war.
The framed painting measures 22 1/2" tall x `18 1/s" wide x 1" deep There is light patina and craquelure throughout the artwork. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
