Wilbur T. Bruce Painting on Paper | African American Outsider Art

Here we have a phenomenal original painting on paper by listed outsider artist Wilbur Thornly Bruce from Columbus Ohio. The nautical themed artwork pictures a ship in the midst of a chaotic ocean, and then you have at the glowing windows.

This piece represents everything amazing about the true originality of outsider art. The chaos of the sea will drown you and t scribbly lines (a W.T. Bruce staple) creates a frenetic energy. A lot of action in this rare outsider artwork.

The Bruce artwork was made in the 1974, while he attended the University of Iowa.On the reverse someone wrote "1974, Bruce." The artwork is signed in the upper left corner (see pic). Wilbur Bruce's art doesn't come up often, and he does have a few pieces in the University of Iowa collection .

The outsider painting measures 28" tall by 22" wide. The unframed art is executed on paper, which is partially glued to cardboard. It still has vintage patina throughout. There are some small loss areas across the wood ship. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). Free shipping on the outsider art.

The sea was angry, my friends. Killer piece.
