Here we have a vintage taxidermy mold for an antelope....obviously He looks he almost got there, and then he did a 180 and forged a new path. You can even rest a beer on his flat head.
The unusual sculpture came out of an estate in southern Minnesota. I believe the vintage mold was created no later than the 1950s. Likely earlier given the look.
The sculpture measures about 17" from the base to the top of the head. From the back of the head to the end of the nose, it measures about 12". The inside is wood, and the exterior is whatever they used back in the day to shape the mold. Paper mache? Not sure. There is patina everywhere. Wear, losses, tears and grime. So wicked.
