Vintage Red Wing Store Sign | 1950s Block Printing
Here we have a vintage Red Wing sign for their cleaning and launderer division. Block printing to the max. This rare piece of Minnesota history is a total bruiser with all the evidence of major use. That's a bold wing rising above the screaming STOP. The sign ordered it, so I stopped...and couldn't resist. The vintage block printing always produces the detailed grind that you can't get in the flaky stuff today. Bad to the everlovin' bone. Imagine this hanging above all your vintage Red Wing boots, for sale or otherwise.
The Red Wing store sign came out of an estate clearance. I was told it's likely from the 1950s.
The framed block print sign measures 15 1/2" tall, 12 1/2" wide, and about 3/4" deep. As you can see, there is major patina everywhere. There's discoloration everywhere, along with a prominent stain along the bottom. There is a 2" tear along the left side. The store obviously hammered this sign into a door or wall given the nail hole near the top. The cool frame has some wear as well. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
