US Navy Boxing Program | 1951 Italy USS Des Moines
Here we have a rare boxing program from the US Navy Championship Bouts taking place in Augusta Bay, Sicily in 1951. I hope the illustrator of the feature action shot earned a medal for his work. Sock! You know it's a wicked shot when the guy actually does the splits when the punch lands. Not to mention that his head is resting on his rear. Sport!
The rare military program contains all the info about the event on the inner pages. The fighters, the songs, and the entertainment, including the Hillbilly Band! (see all pics....so good). The program comes out of a collection in the Twin Cities area.
The Navy boxing program measures 8 1/2" x 5 1/2". Overall, the program is in very good condition for its age. There are some small creases around the edges and some smudging of the typewriter ink from back in the day. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
