Here we have a rare ornate desk lamp made by the Aladdin Manufacturing Company. You want to talk about over embellished ornate design, check out the wicked base and arm of this bad boy. It's a beautiful tank ready for battle. They don't make them like this anymore. It would annihilate every flimsy light in the big box stores...and then yawn.
This pugilist lived the life. The shade used to have ornate foliage designs throughout. They still exist, just underneath a multitude of scars. You want attitude? This is the guy who cranks up the stereo at the party, sending the squares to the doors and the rocker kids into a frenzy. If you're looking for a pristine, stuffy lamp, you took a wrong turn a ways back.
The rare vintage light naturally sits low to the surface. Just under 8" in its natural state. The cast iron knuckle near the shade adjusts up, lifting the top of the shade to about 10" above the surface. The shade measures about 8" wide, 4 1/2" deep, and 2 1/2" tall. The diameter of the base is about 5 1/2". In its natural state, it measures about 12" from the back of the base to the top of the shade. The wiring is original and the lamp works fine. As always, I encourage you to perform your own inspection and act accordingly. The cord measures 61". There is great patina throughout, including surface grime, scrapes, and occasional surface rust.
