Duke Ellington Portrait Bust for Wisconsin Conservatory of Music

Here we have a phenomenal portrait plaster bust of the jazz giant Duke Ellington. If you need a biography of The Duke, I'm going to kindly ask you to the Take the A Train elsewhere. He is a musical giant, and his influence is seen everywhere. He is quite simply, "The Man."

The art sculpture was created by August Edward Peter in 2000 for the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. The Museum of Wisconsin Art has a profile page about Mr. Peter's extensive work and commissions, including this jazz artwork.

The Ellington bust is signed and dated 2000 by the artist. There is a gold colored tag stating "Ellington." That's all you need to say. This is a great item representing a great musician. He even included the top of his tie! Duke was always dressed above the rest.

The sculpture was originally purchased at an estate auction in Wisconsin.

The life size bust stands just over 15" tall. The face is about 5" wide, and head is about 7" from nose to back of the head. Given the material, I'm not sure if there is patina or not. I'm guessing there is. There is a copper pipe extending from the wood base up into the head. The artwork has a good amount of weight to it as well. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship to the continental USA only. Free shipping on the Ellington sculpture.

Can you tell I'm a fan of Duke?  He has his own section of my vinyl collection. Check out this rocker. So good.
