Cuban Santeria Folk Art Painting | 2002 Signed Mystery Artist

Here we have a framed Cuban folk art painting of Ochun, the Yoruba Goddess of Love, from the early 2000s. The vibrant artwork shows Ochun overlooking the city of homes with the Cuban flag hanging behind her. I honestly was lost at first, but thanks to my brilliant friend Tracy (@trayfigs on Instagram), she led me down the right path. Here's her knowledge:

"The art piece of the goddess overlooking Cuba symbolizes Ochun, the goddess of love. She is a deity in the Yoruba religion. In Santeria, which is a combo of Catholicism and Yoruba she is represented very much in this way, yellow dresses, gold, beauty, love...all the fine things in life."

I can't get over the bending detail of the homes beneath her. Super detailed and bright.

The Yoruba folk art painting comes out of a Twin Cities estate of an art collector. The painting is signed illegibly and dated 2002. If you have any ideas, I'm all ears. The painting looks to be executed on a thin artist board stock.
