Here we have an antique walking cane with a ton going on. First you have sterling silver cap with years of patina. Then you have a strap of very worn leather wrapped tightly and tied with authority. Moving on to the unusual inlay material, hammered in by small nails. Finally, the wood cane extends down with patina covering the entire surface.
That's a long way of saying it's a belter. I'm guessing it's from the early 1900s. You know this one has a ton of killer stories. I wish it could talk. The gentleman who used this one back in the day had a small slice of crazy for breakfast every day. He was on the edge, exactly where he liked it.
The authentic cane came out of a large walking stick collection in the Twin Cities. The guy built his collection of antique and vintage examples over numerous years. He definitely liked the rare and unusual walking sticks.
The antique cane measures just over 36". The sterling silver cap has a diameter of 1" The leather is very worn, with cracks, discoloration and a few losses. The inlay piece has a few cracks as well, likely from the nails. Personally, it all adds up to one bad boy of a cane. There may have been a cap covering the bottom at one point.
