Antique Painting of Soldier and Jesus in Battle | Signed Raimondi
Here we have a powerful antique painting of a soldier reaching out to Christ in the midst of war. I don't know if the battle is still raging, or if he's leaving it. Either way, this one is a blaring steam train. The visual culmination of the things whispered in those church services, but scream out in the world, out in the streets, out in the bullet-cased fields of grass and dirt. The gun laying at his side, tending to the essential task at hand. Paintings don't touch on it often, and when they do, people's vision change.
Yeah, that was my attempt, but words can't do it. Just lay your gaze again.
The unframed painting is signed Raimondi. There are a few painters with the name. Maybe Aldo Raimondi, but I have my doubts, so this one is a mystery artist for now. I do believe he's Italian. I believe the painting is from the early 1900s.
The painting measures 14" tall by 11" wide. There is some wear along the edges and corners. There are also pinholes in the corners. There is a small tear in the upper right side. The left corner has a small loss. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

No other way to say it. I hope peace for anyone who laid their life on the line.
