Antique Cubist Painting from 1930s | Marshall Field's Estate

Here we have an amazing Cubist painting on masonite from the 1930s WPA era. Full disclosure, if this one never sells, I won't bat an eye. This unusual piece has everything going for it. First, the image....yeah, just take a look at the photos again, then zoom. Second, the Cubist style. The execution is the bees. You feel like you'll fall into the road with those cubes flying by. Third, the Cubist Cowpoke! The Dude abides. And those wheels. Fourth, fifth, sixth, etc. You can go forever. Frankly, I've never seen anything like it.

The painting comes out of the Marshall Field's estate in the Twin Cities. I was told that the reverse paper (now removed) had a tag stating "Marshall Field's Picture Gallery." The painting has no signature. The artist is a mystery to me. I do know there were some heavy hitters who produced paintings for Marshall Fields back in the day. I wish I knew more about the brain behind this beauty.

The framed piece measures just under 24" tall and just under 19" wide. There is an inner black frame that sits farther out than the outer wood frame. The actual painting measures 18 1/2" tall and 13 1/2" wide. There are a few small paint losses. One in the right side of the cart, and on the top left and right (see pics). There is a random off color stroke just to the left of the dude's blue torso. The outer frame is experiencing small losses in the bottom corner. The reverse shows evidence of a paper cover. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO Boxes please). Free shipping on the amazing artwork.

Bad to the bone, and it shines.
