Antique Alligator Walking Cane Carved from 19th Century Orangewood

Here we have an antique Orangewood walking cane with an ornate alligator carving on the handle. It's go-time people. Oh yes. This one likely originated in the South in the late 1800s/early 1900s. The wood carver wanted this gator to be noticed, and he/she succeeded on all levels. The ornate carving, differentiating wood color, and the glaze. It's on another level. Check out his red eyeballs. The tail is as long as he is. You're gonna think twice about pulling a fast one on the individual walking down the street with this bad boy. Not a good idea.

The walking stick has the complete look, from the metal bottom tip to the fella crawlin' to the top. This piece came out of an extensive Minnesota collection of antique canes, ranging from bone to silver to folk art wood carvings. He had the eye, just like this gator. The carver is a mystery to me.

The cane measures just under 35". The alligator measures 5" from snout to tail. She glistens with a killer glaze, bring out the perfect patina. The metal tip at the bottom is a little loose but stays put on the cane. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship to the continental USA only. Free shipping on the cane.

This thing is ready to pounce. I mean that in every way possible. I can stare at this piece all day long.
