Here we have an unusual painted tile of a man full of liquid confidence presenting his glass of wine and grapes...(pause for effect). Alright, back to the business at hand. The unusual painting on white tile may be a self portrait by Minnesota artist Alonzo Hauser (1909-1988). This unusual artwork belongs in a winery, restaurant, or right around your fine wine. Bordeaux Bordeaux!
The rare tile artwork comes out of a Twin Cities estate. As for age, I'm guessing the 1960s but it's only a guess.
Here's a brief intro to Hauser's biography, courtesy of the official Alonzo Hauser
website. Alonzo Hauser was a prominent and prolific sculptor and artist for five decades. He founded the Art Department at Macalester College in 1945. He taught at the Layton School of Art, Milwaukee, Carton College and the University of Minnesota School of Architecture. His work is in the collection of the Walker Art Museum, the Minnesota Museum of American Art, and the Minnesota Historical Society, the Wustum Museum in Racine, Wisconsin, and in many galleries and private collections throughout the country.
The framed artwork measures just over 9" tall by 7" wide by 1 1/2" deep. The piece has patina throughout. The reverse fabric is partially attached. An easy fix. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). Free shipping on the Hauser artwork.
This one's for all you wine lovers.
