Al Capone Syndicate Payoff Locale Photograph | 1930s Mobster

Here we have an antique photograph of an Al Capone syndicate payoff locale, owned and operated by none other than Jake "Greasy Thumb" Guzik. This little gem is a piece of notorious mobster history at the mobster epicenter of Cicero, Illinois. I'm hungry for barbecue just looking at this thing! I'd walk in the door expecting barbecue and meeting a gun in the face. Welcome to Chicago. The sepia tone definitely gives it a sense of dread. The place even has room for trailers! Fun campin'. Check out the menu sign outside. I wish it could talk.

On the reverse the following is written in pencil.

- Capone Syndicate Payoff locale
- run 1926 - 1936
- Capone - owned by and run by Jake Guzik (Greasy Thumb)
- 3 1/2 miles outside Cicero Ill.

The rare antique photography comes out of an estate from a collector of crime-related memorabilia in Chicago. I'm guessing the photograph is from the 1930s. I'm still researching to confirm the location and the sordid history.

If you've lived your life under a rock, here's the Wikipedia page for Al Capone:

Here's the Wikipedia page for Jake Guzik, old Greasy Thumb!

The mobster photograph measures 9" wide and 7" tall, including the back matting. The actual photo measures 8" wide by 5" tall. There is patina everywhere. There is a moisture spot on the top matting. on the reverse there is evidence of adhesive. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). Free shipping on the rare photograph. The photograph will be mailed in an acid free sleeve.

When you're looking at this history, it's like looking at the barrel of a gun. Wicked stuff....literally.
