1970s Illustration Art for Automotive Industry | Cool Petroliana
Here we have a large double-sided illustration painting of everything vehicle that ever utilized gas pedals. When you lay your eyes on this expansive landscape, you literally can smell the diesel and hear the roar. There is so much detail going on in this scenario. Diesel trucks, dudes driving diesel trucks, trains, bridges, and industrial buildings, all covered by a blue sky. There's even a Great Northern Warehouse in the background. There are a million things going on in this piece, and I love every one of them. And then you flip it over....and now you have a montage of tractors in ink and watercolor. More diesel!
The illustration art on board is signed "Tanfield" in the lower right corner of the first side. I was told the artist worked for a Co-op in the Twin Cities area in the 1970s. I still haven't nailed down the full name, so he's still a mystery.
The vintage illustration artwork measures 32" tall by 23" wide. As you see, there are losses around the corners and along the edges. There is one area along the right side that's experiencing some slight warping. There is patina from storage throughout. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
