1950s Abstract Painting with Tribal Style | 1959 MCM Art
Here we have a stunning Abstract Mid Century Modern painting straight out of 1950s Chicago. The abstract tribal tone going on will haunt you while also brightening up your day with its high octane energy. You can stare at this bombastic beauty for hours. I speak from experience since I have this hanging in my living room. The MCM abstract is an explosion of colors and exploration. Unreal piece.
The rare 1950s painting came out of a Chicago estate of a high end art collector. The painting is signed "J.W." and dated 1959 in the bottom right corner. On the reverse it is signed "White" in the lower left. The person I acquired the piece from stated that he believes the artist's name is "Jerry White," and he was an interesting player in the Chicago underground art scene. Apparently he enjoyed pushing the limits of his style in his painting, and he had a tendency to use psychedelic "influences" in that pursuit.
The framed MCM abstract painting measures 34 1/2" tall by just under 26 3/4" and 2" deep. There is a light patina across the thick paint on the canvas. The stretch of the canvas is slightly loose. The shadowbox frame was made by the collector and is not original to the painting. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
I will ship UPS to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). Free shipping on this rare tribal style abstract painting.
