1940s Folk Art Painting of Cowboy on Metal Tractor Box | Signed CW
Here we have a gem straight out of the depths of the underground folk art world of rural America. It's a painting of a cowboy riding a bucking horse, with blazing shots flying in the air. And he's blazing away at his name in lights, "DENVER." This industrial folk art was applied to an old tractor box, because.....well, it's folk art, which transcends rhyme and reason, And it's the very reason I was down with this bruiser as soon as I saw it.
The cowboy painting is signed "CW" and dated 1945. One the inside of the box somebody signed the name "Charley Davidson" and then scribbled it out. I'm still not clear on the hand so we're dealing with a mystery artist.
The folk art tractor box measures 4 1/2" tall, 12 1/2" wide, and 6 1/2" deep. As you can see, there is patina from use everywhere, and I mean everywhere. Old industrial art at it's finest! But this beast is solid. I believe there is a missing front latch. The top hangs slightly above the latching position. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). Free shipping on the cool folk art box.
