Here we have an original folk art poster for a Fais Do Do (Louisiana Country Dance) featuring the Bob Roberts Orchestra....in a "Gym Barn." This thing is absolutely wicked. That illustration in the center is super funky and hilarious. The disproportionality is the name of the folk art game. I'm sure she's mesmerized, and he's....country. His gaze will light the way.
The rare original artwork comes out of an old folk art collection in Iowa. I was told this came out of the backwoods of Louisiana. Given that the Bob Roberts Orchestra was on the ticket, it likely was produced in the 60s. The piece is not signed so we're dealing with a mystery artist.
The vintage music illustration poster measures 24" tall by 19" wide. There is patina from age and use throughout the heavy stock paper poster, including surface discoloration and creases. The corners show evidence of tape residue. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
