Here we have an early 1900s industrial painting of a haunting landscape scene of a factory and stone buildings. I was immediately drawn to it because it totally has a Joy Division vibe to it. The tone is edgy, amped up by the industrial backdrop. It is just has a major vibe that you can hear and feel from anywhere in the room. It’s more punk rock than you can imagine. It’s a full-on scene.
The unusual industrial painting came out of an art collector’s estate in the Twin Cities. I was told the painting was very old, likely in the early 1900s.
The unframed painting measures 32" x 20". The handmade frame is warped, which results in the painting not lying flat on the wall. I suggest re-framing the painting but I’ll leave it up to you. There are a few punctures and a 2” diameter paint loss in the lower center. There is patina throughout the painting. The vintage painting is sold AS IS. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
