1970s Folk Art Surreal Painting of African American Man

Here we have a fantastic 1970s folk art painting of an African American man dressed to the old-timey 9s while sitting in front of a surreal scene containing glowing stick figures in a variety of poses, all with a wicked color scheme pattern. I know that's a lot, but that's because it's a lot. Straight, no chaser. And your eyes will be blazin' when peering at this large beauty. There's still a good amount of mystery as well. Is he a musician? A preacher? What does the "C.S" in his pocket mean? I'm still working on the cryptic signature. I thought it might have been executed by Merton Daniels Simpson but the signature doesn't match anything I've found. I'm all ears if you have any insight. The rare African American art comes out of a wealthy art collector's Minneapolis estate. The painting is signed illegibly but ends with '73.'

The vintage painting measures just over 36" tall and 21" wide. The painting has light patina from age throughout. especially along the edges (see pic). Overall, this folk art surrealist painting is in great shape, Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). Free shipping on the amazing 70s artwork.

Never seen the like. And that, my friend, is all aces.
