Here we have a rare antique photograph of a Penn State dorm room in the early 1900s, starring a prominent grad by the name of William Plank. At ease, gentleman, we’re just passing through. This is a scene you rarely see in antique photography. And some things never change. Check out all the photos tacked up on the wall. I looked everywhere and couldn’t find a Bob Marley poster. But those pillows are sick! Here’s some background about who and what we’re looking at:

The name W. B. Plank refers to William Bertolet Plank (1886–1956), a distinguished figure in the field of mining engineering. Plank attended Pennsylvania State University, earning his degree (E.M.) in 1909. The "S" on the pillows identifies the location as Penn State (often referred to simply as "State" at the time). The photograph likely dates to his senior years, circa 1907–1909. "Morgan's Room" likely refers to a roommate or a specific residence hall. Plank was known to have been an instructor at Penn State for a year after graduation before embarking on a career with the U.S. Bureau of Mines and later becoming the long-time head of the Mining Engineering department at Lafayette College (1920–1956).

The antique photo and backing measures 7 1/2" tall by 10" wide. The photo is in good shape. There is slight patina throughout. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). Free shipping on the rare antique photograph.
