Here we have a WW2 souvenir ring of the North African war campaign from 1943. I love the biker ring style of this historic bad boy. The side ridges are a wicked touch. The vintage ring is a piece of military memorabilia made as a souvenir for soldiers stationed in Oran, Algeria, during the war in 1943. Here are some more details about the ring:
Oran's Role: Oran was a strategically important port city in North Africa. It was a key objective during Operation Torch, the Allied invasion of French North Africa in November 1942.
1943: This year aligns with the period when Allied forces were consolidating their control over North Africa after the successful invasion.
Souvenir Rings: It was common for soldiers to purchase or have rings made to commemorate their service in specific locations or campaigns during wartime. These were often produced locally by craftspeople.
Trench Art: While not strictly "trench art" in the traditional sense (made from repurposed war materials), this ring falls into a broader category of wartime souvenirs crafted for and by soldiers.
Possible Origins: The spelling of "Africa" suggests it was likely made for an Allied soldier, as the German spelling would typically be "Afrika." The ring was likely made by a local craftsman in Oran, catering to the demand for souvenirs from soldiers stationed there
The WW2 campaign ring comes out of a Wisconsin estate containing vintage biker rings between the 30s and 60s. Luckily I was able to nab a few. The ring is likely mixed metals. I’m assuming brass is the main element.
The 1940s WW2 ring is a size 8. There is patina everywhere. There is some oxidation and discoloration throughout the ring. Still solid all the way around. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

Tougher than a coffin nail. This ring will always bring forth the honor it deserves.
