Here we have an original Burris Jenkins political cartoon from the 1960s. The pure surreal beauty of this space exploration scene is one of my favorites. Pull back the curtain and you're in business. Majestic with a gargantuan "M." I love this WPA style piece.

The original Burris drawing was created in the 1960s. There isn't a signature but the drawing was found in a stack of original Burris drawings.

Here is a biography of Burris Jenkins (1897-1966), courtesy of The Political Cartoon Gallery:

"Jenkins was the son of a prominent Kansas City minister, war correspondent and newspaper editor. He was a popular sports cartoonist, whose work appeared in the New York Journal-American from 1931. His humorous published verses were also popular. Although best known for his sports themes, Jenkins was also a skilled courtroom illustrator and editorial cartoonist. He was fired from his first job at the Kansas City Post for a series of pessimistic Christmas cartoons, a firing which prompted his father's resignation from the same newspaper. Among his best-remembered cartoons are his angry piece on the discovery of the dead Lindbergh baby, and his sentimental image of Babe Ruth's farewell to Yankee Stadium."

The original political cartoon measures 13" tall by 10 1/2" wide. There is patina from age throughout the piece. There is a diagonal line in the bottom right (see pics). But as you can see in the pictures, this beauty still pops, both visually and verbally. Please feel all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO Boxes). Free shipping on the rare political art.

What a fantastic scene. It deserves all the goods.
